Having difficulties with this web site? We will try to help! Here are some FAQs we have received:

I have tried several times to log on to the web site but the system response tells me that my e-mail address is not found. I have been getting the newsletter by e-mail. Can you help?

Answer: 
Even though have joined SSC, have paid your membership dues by check and have already been receiving the e-newsletter, there is another step you have to take in order to log onto the web site. You have to "join" again via the web site in order to start the process of setting up an online membership. The good news is that you do not have to pay your dues again!

Here's how the process of setting up your online membership works:
  1. After you have joined and paid your membership fee, go to the Member Application page of this web site
  2. Select the 7th Membership Level (which indicates that you have already joined) and then go to the next page
  3. Fill out the information requested. You will need to create a password to access the site later
  4. Submit the request for member application
  5. The web site then notifies SSC of your request, and if your payment is confirmed, SSC will allow you access to the web site. (This may take a few days) You will receive an email from SSC letting you know that the process is complete.
  6. You can then log on to the site using the email address and password that you submitted.
I was trying to log on as a member to see what big trips were chosen for 2011. But I have no password, and the "forgot password" did not recognize my e-mail address. What do I need to do?
Answer: You do not have to log on to see this information, once it is on the site. It is public information for anyone to see. If the information is not on the site, it is because the webmaster has not received the information from the SSC. As for logging onto the web site if you are a paid member, please see the answer to the question above.

Why do I have to fill out the online application if I have already joined and paid my dues?
Answer: The SSC is in the process of converting from the paper application and membership management system, that has been used for the past 26 years, to a digital system. You are helping the club to become part of the 21st Century by adding your membership to our online database. Keep in mind that this is a club run by volunteers: there is no paid staff. If you have computer and/or web skills, we encourage you to volunteer your services, and perhaps we could reach our digital goal sooner with your help!

Why can't I join online and pay by credit card?
Answer: Unfortunately the SSC is not yet able to take credit card payments. You may either join at a meeting and pay by check, or send in an application and check via snail mail.

What's the benefit of having an online membership?
Answer: In the Stuff for Members Only area, you can download the current newsletter, as well as past newsletters. You can see the Special Member Discounts, and you can Join the SSC Yahoo Group, so that you can keep in touch with other club members via email.
